Our telephone HelpLine is answered by staff members and volunteers
who are trained to answer your questions about Alzheimers
disease, community services and resources available to you. The
HelpLine is answered from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through
Friday or you may leave a message at anytime and we will return
your call as soon as possible. Please call 225-334-7494 in
Baton Rouge or 1-800-548-1211. You
can also email your questions or requests to a HelpLine Specialist
at info@alzbr.org.
Caregiver
Network We sponsor caring non-judgmental meetings where families and
friends share their experiences and learn essential information for coping with
the disease. Caregiver Network Groups meet regularly and are free.
Safe Return Program
Safe Return is nationwide registry that helps identify, locate, and return individuals
who wander from their residences. Call the office to receive a registration form
or click here to register in the Safe Return Program. Conferences
and Trainings An annual conference, workshops, and special educational
events enhance skills and provide up-to-date information to caregivers, volunteers,
family members, and health care professionals. Resource
Center Books, pamphlets, newsletters, videos, and cassettes are available
on loan through our resource center. The materials cover a wide range of topics
such as getting a diagnosis, communication techniques, home safety tips, choosing
a residential care setting, experiences of other caregivers, and activity programming.
Speakers
Bureau Staff and volunteers in the field
of aging serve on the Speakers Bureau and provide presentations for community
organizations, businesses and professional associations. In addition, Alzheimers
Services participates in health fairs and other health and wellness functions.
Speakers are available to present to audiences of 10 or more. Please call to book
a speaker at least 30 days in advance. Please click on the list of topics available.
